Simple Church:

A simple church is a small group of followers of Jesus who meet in a home for “church”.  By meeting in a house, the group does not have to support a building, building fund, staff, expensive programs, etc.  All time, effort, and money can go directly to ministering to people.  At the same time, an intimacy forms among the members of each church.  Church members gather together to worship God and to encourage each other in their spiritual life.  When each group grows to about 15 people, the group splits and gives birth to another simple church meeting in a different home.

Loving God, Blessing Others, Building Relationships

What’s up with the unusual name?

Irresistible Influence (I2) means that because God is an irresistible influence in our lives, we want to go out into the world and be living examples of God’s love.

Why does I2 exist?

Today, just as in the first century, we believe that God wants us to help Him build His Kingdom by making disciples.  People have an inborn hunger for God, but some have had a bad experience with the traditional church.  Rather than inviting people to church, we believe that God calls us to go out into the world to “be the church”.  The people of I2 don’t think church should be a place you go to on Sundays.  We think “church” should be about how we live our lives every day.  With God’s help and guidance, we are trying to “be the church”.

FAQS
(Frequently Asked Questions):

What are some key Bible verses?
What is a simple church?

Loving God:

When asked what the most important commandments were, Jesus replied, “The first is to love God with all your heart, all your soul, and with all your mind”.  We love God because He first loved us.  He loves us so much that he sent Jesus to die on the cross for the forgiveness of our sins.  When Jesus rose again on the third day, He defeated sin, Satan, and death.

Blessing Others:

Jesus said, “The second most important commandment is to love others as you love yourself.” We try to reflect the love, forgiveness, mercy, and grace of Christ in our homes, in our neighborhoods, and on the job.

Building Relationships:

Jesus also commanded his followers to “go forth and make disciples”.  We think that people will naturally be attracted to the way we love God, bless others, and build relationships.  We believe that by putting the focus on people, not buildings or programs, God will, through the Holy Spirit, bring people to Him and transform lives.

˙ Matthew 22:37-39  Jesus replied: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.  This is the first and greatest commandment.  And the second is like it:  Love your neighbor as yourself.” (NIV)

˙ Matthew 28:18-20  Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.  Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.  And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (NIV)

˙ John 13:20   I tell you the truth, whoever accepts anyone I send accepts me; and whoever accepts me accepts the one who sent me. (NIV)

˙ Hebrew 13:2   Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it. (NIV)

˙ John 13:35   By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.

˙ John 3:16   For God loved the world so much that He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life. (NLT)

˙ Psalm 25:4-5  Show me Your ways, O Lord.  Teach me your paths.  Guide me in Your truth and teach me, for You are my God my Savior, and my hope is in You all day long. (NIV)

˙ Ephesians 4:15    We will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of His body, the church. (NLT)

˙
Romans 8:28  And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, and have been called according to his purpose. (NIV)
